Firefighters will likely work through the night to continue efforts to contain a wildfire that has been burning near the Martha’s Falls area of Little River Canyon Preserve in north Alabama since Saturday morning. According to WEIS Radio the fire is approximately 75% contained.
Extremely dry winds are carrying smoke south towards Cherokee County and Weiss Lake.

Authorities say portions of County Road 861 are closed at this time, and they are working to open alternate routes for residents in the area. There are detour signs in the area to help people out.
