Technology is taking Birmingham by a storm. Thankfully one Real Estate Developer gets the expanding idea.
Joseph McClure, of Joseph McClure Commercial Real Estate, is heading up a project to turn multiple historic office spaces into a “hub” for health care tech companies. Currently, 4 spaces (212, 214, 216 and 218 20th St. N.) are planned to become the headquarters of this new hub.
Construction work should begin around the first of the year to turn the second and third floors into a space that is conducive for technology companies. He said it will be an open space that includes conference room and technology lab spaces.

With the Innovation Depot currently being the only center for small and new business creation inside the city, this new “hub” will be an astounding addition. The work space will be on the second and third floors, above Brick and Tin and others connected.
The surrounding area of 20th street is packed with restaurants and local businesses; Paramount, John City Diner, Revelator, Roly Poly and more. Future job creation will not only help fuel the city’s economy, but bring more people down town.
Recognition is important for our small city. With technology, food, beer, music, and health care shaping our culture, it is all hands on deck to continue making a name for ourselves.
