Sustainable Gardening

May 18, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Third Thursday in the Gardens Program

Jan Emming is the owner and creator of Desert Sense Nursery at Destination: Forever Ranch and Gardens near the small town of Yucca, Arizona. He moved to this 40-acre parcel in 1999 to pursue the creation of a large garden and horticultural collection of cacti, succulents, and xeric desert plants.

Jan (pronounced Yahn) will talk about living off the grid in the beautiful Mohave Desert near the base of the Hualapai Mountains in northwestern Arizona. Jan’s desert home is made from papercrete, a mixture of paper fiber and concrete that gives the look and feel of adobe.

If you are interested in sustainable living, the natural world of American deserts or the wonders of nature viewed through the camera of a photographer; this program will be of great interest to you.

To reserve your spot, call Anniston Museum at 256-237-6766. Reservations are required. Cost is free to members and $5.00 to non-members. Payment is due at time of reservation
