The Birmingham Zoo is partnering with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums to celebrate SAFE Day. AZA SAFE: Saving Animals From Extinction focuses the collective expertise of accredited organizations and their audiences to save species. AZA SAFE focuses on 10 signature species: the African penguin, Asian elephant, black rhinoceros, cheetah, gorilla, sea turtle, sharks, vaquita, Western pond turtle, and whooping crane. The Birmingham Zoo will be celebrating the work we do with the animals in our care to ensure they are safe from extinction. Our focus animals will be fishing cats, white rhinoceros, reticulated giraffe, kori bustard, and jaguar. Educational stations and keeper chats will be located throughout the Zoo to help tell the story of our animals. Activities will focus on adaptations and characteristics of our focus animals. Activities and chats will occur from 10am to 2pm
