25 Cases of Zika In Alabama

Official reports are saying 25 cases of the Zika virus have been found in Alabama. These cases have been reported across 16 different AL counties. All cases received the virus outside US borders, but the possibility of the disease finding its way to Alabama mosquitos is all too real.

Tuesday morning State Health Officer Dr. Tom Miller said, “We have been working with a variety of partners, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the medical community, to identify individuals who need to be tested for the Zika virus and with those who have tested positive. Additional precautions are needed for pregnant women and women of childbearing age. Public health environmentalists have been helping communities reduce mosquito breeding grounds around their homes and communities.”
