The Rotaract Club of Birmingham will host the first ever College Signing Day on Friday, April 28, at A.H. Parker High School. The ceremony will honor the achievements of 62 Parker High School college-bound seniors.
College Signing Day will celebrate graduating seniors, showcase student leaders and inspire younger classes to continue their education. Khadijah Abdullah, executive director of Teach For America and a Birmingham City Schools graduate, will be the keynote speaker.
Birmingham Audubon says, “Restoring native plant habitat is vital to preserving biodiversity. By creating a native plant garden, each patch of habitat becomes part of a collective effort to nurture and sustain the living landscape for birds and other animals.”
Will Pearson and his business partner, Mangesh Hattikudur, founded Mental Floss magazine while they were still in college at Duke University in 2001. Mental Floss, which gained popularity based on its fun, inquisitive tone, grew over the years to be a successful national brand and was bought by a publisher in New York.
As part of AT&T’s continuing efforts to boost internet adoption across the state, the Alabama State Department of Education and the Alabama Chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) announced the Wenonah High School chapter of FCCLA won the #ATTCyberSeniors video competition.
