The J. Clyde featured in CraftBeer.com about bars that changed their city’s beer scene

Birmingham Alabama

Last week, CraftBeer.com‘s Nora McGunnigle wrote a great post about places that helped change their local beer scene.

Titled “6 Craft Beer Bars That Changed Their City’s Beer Scene” – the article featured Birmingham’s own The J.Clyde.

Joining, The J. Clyde on CraftBeer.com’s list are craft beer bars from San Francisco, Denver, Washington, D.C., New Orleans and Chicago.

McGunnigle stated in the article  what they were looking for in the development of the list.

“In cities with passionate local beer scenes, you’ll often find a craft beer bar that’s anchored the scene, be it for five, 10, 20, or 30 years. The longer the beer bar has been around, the earlier that community of brewers, publicans and drinkers came together as a cohesive community enriching everyone.”

For craft beer lovers in Birmingham, the profile on The J. Clyde and its owner Jerry Hartley reminds us how far the craft beer industry has progressed in the Magic City over the past decade.

It truly takes a community to support a vibrant local craft beer industry.

It is good to see a pioneer such as The J. Clyde receive some well-deserved national recognition.
