Top 12 isn’t half bad. According to Buzzfeed, Birmingham is making waves in the foodie world.

The Magic City has been getting quite the recognition for our impressive eats. Sites like Zagat and Thrillist, have highlighted Bham and the hidden gem that it is. It might have to do with our Southern charm and our abundance of unique eateries. Surely, the to die for cuisine doesn’t hurt either.

So what did Buzzfeed have to say about Bham? Named
for “southern cooking with a sophisticated, seasonal flair,” we came in as number 11 on the list. Special shoutouts included fan favorite BBQ SAW’s Soul Kitchen, high-class Highlands Bar and Grill, and savory OvenBird.

Saw’s BBQ is no stranger to spotlight. Food Network stars such as Paula Deen and Alton Brown have sung this barbecue spots praise. Highlands Bar and Grill has had its share of success with its consistent nominee for the James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant. OvenBird while a newer establishment is definitely holding its own with its adventurous and seasonal dishes.

Preceding Catskills, New York, Birmingham came in at number 11 on the list. The list also included Providence, RI, Asheville, NC, Charlottesville, VA, Healdsburg, CA, St. Louis, MO, Traverse City, MI, Scottsdale, AZ, Portland, ME, Boulder, CO, and Greenville, SC.

From Arizona to New England, Birmingham is making a statement about southern cooking and good eats. Now time to welcome foodies from all over.
