Yesterday’s USA Today featured Birmingham’s popular Rotary Trail in their travel section.

Titled Cities turn abandoned rail lines into popular parks, a photo of Rotary Trail’s iconic entrance by Bham Now’s Larry O. Gay is one of a series of images displayed of rails to trails projects across the country on the national newspaper’s website.

Another feather in “Birmingham’s cap,” the USA Today article also featured other successful rail-trail projects such as New York’s High Line and projects from  Detroit and Pittsburgh.

According to Bhamwiki – the Rotary Trail (formerly called Line Park) began construction of the pedestrian greenway in 2014.  Largely funded by the Rotary Club of Birmingham, the trail was dedicated on April 6, 2016.
