Birmingham’s growth is attributed to many things. In particular, though, the food industry seems to stand out the most for our southern city/metro.

Within the foodie scene, our food truck culture is revving up, and the possible addition of the “Birmingham Food Park” could expand it even further.

As a disclaimer, the approval of said park is not yet finalized.  Here’s what we know so far.

Plans are to be located on the corner of First Avenue North and 24th Street continue to be pushed by owner Terry Damsky.

According to the BBJ, the idea is to cater to 3 main areas:

  • Business for Food Truck vendors
  • Add a new “attraction” to the citys loft district
  • Create additional revenue for the City of Birmingham

Lot/Park Details:

There are 5 total spaces for food trucks to park, and there will be a rotating lineup for the others.

via the Food Park Facebook, this is a good idea of what to expect!

“The traffic we’ll receive on that corner is incredible… We’ll be looking to have a positive impact and be a cohesive neighbor.

We do expect to open very soon, but our Facebook followers will be the first to know.”

– Damsky told the BBJ

As mentioned, the Facebook page for “Birmingham Food Park” has been receiving quite a lot of traction!

  • 2,000 followers in the first day
  • 5,000 followers in the first week

Accordingly, there is plenty of support from locals, but the plans have to be finalized by the Birmingham Design Review committee first.

Final approval is, according to Damsky, expected some time very soon.
