UAB has been making strides to support students and faculty alike to battle food insecurity on campus. Their newest accomplishment entails opening an on-campus food bank.

The UAB Benevolent Fund has sponsored the Blazer Kitchen, the new on-campus food bank. The Grand Opening will be March 6th, 2017 with an Open House from 8am to 10am. It is located in UAB Medical Towers, Suite 100. They will offer fresh and nonperishable foods to those who are unsure of when or where they will be getting their next meal.

They are partnered with the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama in order to have access to food donated through grocery stores and food banks. Of course, donations are readily accepted and encouraged. Anything from food and household items to monetary donations is greatly appreciated.

It will be open Mondays 11am to 3pm and Thursdays 3pm to 6pm. A University One Card or VIVA Health Employee badge must be presented to utilize the Blazer Kitchen.

Eligibility forms are now available and can be found on their website.
