American Rhodes Scholars take on Birmingham Professional as Pres.
Every year a prestigious award, granted by the Association of American Rhodes Scholars, is awarded to 32 U.S. individuals.
1973 was the year Ralph H. Smith became a Rhode Scholar. About 43 years later, he is now the societies president.
In 2012, Mr. Smith founded the Ralph Smith Group in an effort to consult businesses and academic institutions toward global thinking.
Ralph Smith spent 25 years in private law practice in Washington, D.C. and Birmingham, Alabama before joining the University of Alabama System for almost a decade as General Counsel, Distinguished Lecturer of Law and Member of the Chancellor’s Senior Policy Staff.
