Welcome 2 Club XIII is the 14th studio album from Drive-By Truckers, an American rock group based out of Athens, Georgia. Known for their fusion of Southern rock, country, blues, punk rock and more genres of music—as well as their often politically-charged albums—Drive By Truckers has been an increasingly popular group with a dedicated following since their founding in 1996.

Drive-By Truckers was founded by Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood, two musicians from The Shoals that met in college at The University of North Alabama. Patterson Hood is the son of David Hood—a bassist with the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and cofounder of Muscle Shoals Sound Studio—which essentially makes him music royalty!

Fun fact: singer-songwriter Jason Isbell played with the Drive-By Truckers from 2001 to 2007.

Welcome 2 Club XIII, DBT’s 14th studio album, marks a sharp departure from the trenchant political commentary of their last three records. A reckoning with the dualities of the things that make you alive and how they sometimes can kill you. A life affirming flashlight for the dark nights of one’s soul. The title track is a tongue in cheek homage to a local dive that founding members Cooley and Hood played in the early days. As they say in the song “Our glory days did kinda suck”.
